Routine monitoring of airborne VOCs using TD–GCxGC–TOF MS/FID
This study demonstrates the suitability of a cryogen-free TD–GCxGC system with dual TOF MS/FID detection for the routine, automated analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in complex humid air samples.
Analysis of a humidified TO-15 canister standard (shown above) demonstrates excellent peak shape and repeatability, with GCxGC providing a high degree of analyte separation, and excellent peak shape resulting from the use of thermal desorption preconcentration and the reverse fill/flush dynamics of the INSIGHT® flow modulator.
In addition, the use of parallel TOF MS and FID detection enables reliable identification and robust quantitation to be achieved in a single 25-minute run, with ChromSpace® software used to streamline full instrument control and data processing.
