Shimadzu (Asia Pacific) and SepSolve collaborate to expand GCxGC–TOF MS in Asia
6 January 2025
Shimadzu
(Asia Pacific), a leader in precision instrumentation, and SepSolve Analytical,
specialists in multi-dimensional chromatography, have announced a partnership
to deliver advanced chemical analysis technology to laboratories across the
Asia Pacific region.
The
collaboration integrates SepSolve's BenchTOF2™ mass spectrometer and INSIGHT®
modulation systems with Shimadzu's Nexis™ GC gas chromatograph and autosampler.
The result is a two-dimensional gas chromatography–time-of-flight mass
spectrometry (GCxGC–TOF MS) system designed to enhance non-target screening of
complex samples.
In non-target
screening, one-dimensional GC–MS can struggle to resolve intricate sample
matrices, such as food aromas, fragrances, and fuels, leading to incomplete or
ambiguous results. GCxGC–TOF MS addresses these limitations by providing
improved separation and reliable compound identification. SepSolve’s BenchTOF2
offers rapid acquisition speeds, full-range mass spectra, and high mass
accuracy to eliminate uncertainty in non-target screening.
“This
partnership with Shimadzu, Asia Pacific, represents a major step forward in
making GCxGC–TOF MS technology more accessible,” said Dr Laura McGregor,
Product Marketing Manager at SepSolve. “With Shimadzu Asia Pacific’s strong
presence and support network in Asia, we’re making it simpler for laboratories
to adopt powerful analytical capabilities for comprehensive chemical
characterisation.”
Shimadzu
(Asia Pacific) will oversee the distribution, installation, and maintenance of
the integrated systems, providing laboratories with local support and ensuring
seamless operation. This initiative will enable laboratories in the region to
tackle complex analytical challenges with greater precision and efficiency.
“We are
proud to partner with SepSolve to drive the adoption of GCxGC–TOF MS technology
in Asia,” said Dr Jackie, Product Manager for GC and GC–MS at Shimadzu (Asia
Pacific). “By integrating INSIGHT modulation and the BenchTOF2 mass
spectrometer with our Nexis GC platform, we are elevating its performance to
new levels, providing laboratories with a smart, versatile platform for
advanced non-target screening applications.”
The enhanced
system delivers significant benefits for sectors such as food and beverage
analysis, fragrance profiling, environmental monitoring, and petrochemical
characterisation, helping laboratories meet the growing demand for detailed and
reliable chemical analysis.
