Determining petrochemical composition by GC×GC–TOF MS/FID: The benefits of flow modulation and Tandem Ionisation

This study demonstrates the performance of a flow-modulated GCxGC system for the analysis of complex petrochemicals, with the INSIGHT modulator providing efficient and repeatable modulation without the need for expensive liquid cryogen.

Parallel detection by MS and FID (see above) is used to achieve qualitative and quantitative analysis of petrochemicals in a single run, while analyte speciation is aided by Tandem Ionisation for simultaneous acquisition of hard (70 eV) and soft (14 eV) EI data.
